On December 12, 2024, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences announced the approval list of the 2024 Major Projects of the National Social Science Fund. Professor LIU Linqing, as the chief expert, was granted the project titled "Research on the Evaluation and Enhancement Strategies of China's Digital Industry International Competitiveness" (Approval No.: 24&ZD076). This marks his second approval for a National Social Science Fund Major Project, following his 2015 project "Global Production Networks, Intellectual Property Protection, and the Enhancement of China’s Foreign Trade Competitiveness".
The project aims to innovate theoretically by constructing a multi-data, multi-method, and multi-dimensional evaluation system to systematically assess China's digital industry international competitiveness. It will identify opportunities, threats, strengths, and weaknesses, and propose strategic objectives, implementation pathways, spatial layouts, and key measures for upgrading China's digital industrial clusters.
Professor Liu’s team has long focused on industrial international competitiveness, securing 7 projects under the National Social Science Fund, National Natural Science Fund, and Ministry of Education. Since 2020, with support from WHU Keli Digital Management Research Center and WHU China Entrepreneurs Research Center, the team has shifted its focus to digital economy and management, researching topics such as digital industry competitiveness, digital clusters, digital infrastructure, and corporate digital transformation strategies.
