Recently, the international higher education research institution QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) released the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject. Wuhan University’s Economics & Econometrics discipline has been ranked 83rd globally, marking a significant milestone.

The discipline has shown steady progress in recent QS rankings: entering the top 200 in 2022, rising to 147th in 2023, and advancing to 128th in 2024. This year, it surged 45 places to break into the top 100, securing the 83rd position.

The 2025 rankings evaluated over 1,700 universities across 100 countries and regions in 55 subject areas. QS employs five key metrics: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, H-index, and international research network. The weight of each indicator varies by discipline to reflect distinct academic characteristics.
