2025 Winter Summit Program | WHU EMS Research Camp Successfully Concludes

AI Ignites Industry 4.0, Management Empowers Industrial Development. In the mighty tide of the era, young people are forging ahead with enthusiasm. The beautiful Luojia Mountain campus of Wuhan University welcomed the inquisitive minds of teenagers. During the 2025 winter vacation, the School of Economics and Management at Wuhan University, in collaboration with the Summit Platform, hosted the "Economics and Management Offline Research Camp." This event attracted 67 outstanding students from high schools across 14 provinces and municipalities nationwide, allowing them to experience the wave of technological and industrial transformation and partake in a feast of humanities and academics.

The four-day research camp was packed with diverse activities, including campus tours, expert lectures, experimental practices, corporate visits, and presentation exchanges. Participants benefited from the experience sharing of outstanding senior students, the disciplinary enlightenment from seasoned professors, hands-on experiences in cutting-edge laboratories, and on-site visits to first-class enterprises. The future unfolded before the participants' eyes, and the seeds of "Great Economics and Management, as both Philosophy and Tool" began to sprout in their hearts.

01 Knowledge Foundation and Practical Exploration

On the morning of January 19th, the opening ceremony of the research camp was hosted by Xu Xiaohui, Director of the Experimental and Information Center of the School of Economics and Management at Wuhan University. Professor Sun Xiang, Vice Dean of the School, delivered an opening speech, introducing the college's profile and expressing his welcome and best wishes to the participants.

Lecture by Professor Li Xuesong

Professor Li Xuesong, Director of the Economics Department and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Economics and Management, Wuhan University, kicked off the lecture series with "Economics: The Key to Unlocking Wealth." He guided the participants through the history of economics, tracing its origins and exploring its theoretical perspectives through real-world case studies. He also discussed the future direction of the discipline, blending academic insights with career prospects. Professor Li's engaging and humorous presentation, filled with rich content, was met with enthusiastic applause.

Exploring Cutting-Edge Technologies

The participants then visited the advanced laboratories of Wuhan University, experiencing frontier technologies and feeling how digitalization empowers economic and social development. In the Smart Decision and Innovation Space, Professor Huang Minxue, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management, demonstrated the application of naked-eye 3D technology in cultural tourism and government affairs. The digital human "avatar" of Professor Huang elicited gasps of amazement, and the participants personally experienced the unstoppable momentum of digital development and the indispensable role of management in empowering industries.

Cultural Heritage Digital Interpretation Theater

In the Cultural Heritage Digital Interpretation Theater, participants operated and experienced digital equipment such as relic modeling, data interaction screens, and three-dimensional immersive projections. They deeply felt the charm of the integration of humanities and history, information management, literature and art, and artificial intelligence.

Corporate Visit to Xiaomi Wuhan Technology Park

In the afternoon, participants visited the Smart Home Appliance Laboratory and the Car Delivery Center at Xiaomi Wuhan Technology Park, led by Professor Liu Linqing and Professor Sun Xiang, Vice Deans of the School of Economics and Management. This school-enterprise cooperation offered a firsthand look at technological innovation. Xiaomi Wuhan Technology Park is a super-large R&D center established by Xiaomi Group, founded by our renowned alumnus Lei Jun.

Smart Home Appliance Laboratory

At the Smart Home Appliance Laboratory, participants not only got an insider's view of the R&D labs for smart home products but also learned about the company's strategic layout in the smart home field and the concept of the Internet of Everything.

Car Delivery Center

At the Xiaomi Car Delivery Center, the SU7 made a dazzling appearance. Product experts introduced the story behind the SU7 to the participantsthe elegant design conceals an integrated casting bottom plate, and the safe driving experience is supported by a clever inverted cell design. The participants gained a lot and were deeply impressed by the charm of industrial technology and the people-oriented spirit of the products.

02 Experiential Learning and Campus Exploration

Theoretical learning is not enough; participants also engaged in behavioral science experiments to experience the charm of "game theory" and strolled through the beautiful campus of Wuhan University to feel its rich history.

On the morning of January 20th, Professor Wei Lijia, Director of the Department of Mathematical Economics and Mathematical Finance and Executive Director of the Behavioral Science Research Experiment Center, gave a lecture on "Behavioral Science Experiments" for the participants.

In the lecture, Professor Wei explained the core concepts of "correlation and causality" through vivid examples such as cholesterol and heart disease, sleep and success, and height and genetic intelligence. He opened the door to experimental economics with the academic case of "The Impact of Middle School Students Serving as Class Leaders on Personal Development." Riding the "ladder of causality," the participants were inspired and actively asked questions such as "How to identify the main influencing factors in causal relationships" and "Is the thinking of high school politics similar to the three-step thinking of causal analysis." Professor Wei provided detailed answers.

Campus Tour


After the theoretical learning, participants followed Teacher Xu Xiaohui to explore the campus scenery of Wuhan University. They first visited the 18-Dormitory Building complex on Luojia Mountain and "touched" the historical memories at the former residence of Zhou Enlai. Under the guidance of the guide, the participants visited the sand table model and seven exhibition halls of the "18-Dormitory Building," where precious historical photos and well-worn exhibits all told the glorious deeds of Comrade Zhou Enlai during the second cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, when he widely united patriotic people from all walks of life in Wuhan University to consolidate the anti-Japanese national united front.

The participants then passed by the Wanlin Museum, the Fifth Teaching Building, and the Luojia Gate of Wuhan University, and came to the Wuhan University History Museum to trace the past and explore the present. Approaching the "Centennial Elegance," they reviewed the development history and took a panoramic view of the glorious history; visiting the "Glorious Chapters and Renewing Daily," they felt the profound faculty and took an overview of the achievements in running the school. Here, the participants felt the profound historical heritage and academic heritage of Wuhan University, and realized the contributions Wuhan University has made to China's higher education and national development in different historical periods.

03 Career Planning and Research Achievements

On the morning of January 21st, to help participants better plan their university life and future career paths, the School of Economics and Management at Wuhan University specially invited Ruan Tingxuan, an outstanding graduate of the Self-Reliance Entrepreneurship Class of Wuhan University, to share her experience. With her rich internship experience and exploration in multiple fields as the background, Ruan Tingxuan put forward suggestions on strengthening the foundation, promoting learning through competitions, and comprehensive exploration around the three core threads of university lifeacademics, scientific innovation, and employment. She encouraged the participants to take the initiative in their future university life and seize every opportunity for growth.

Lecture on AI and Enterprise Digital Management

Technology for good, embracing emerging technologies, and empowering economic management research. Associate Professor Li Changjun from the Department of Technology Economics and Innovation Management of the School of Economics and Management at Wuhan University gave a lecture on "AI Applications and Enterprise Digital Management" for the participants. He cited AI examples in life such as "real-time monitoring of takeaway riders" and "hotel delivery robots," making every student present feel the pulse of the AI era.

Talking about the impact of AI on enterprise digital management, Associate Professor Li Changjun cited the new work model of human-computer collaboration "AI interviewer," reminding the participants to maintain a sense of awe towards technology. At the end of the lecture, Professor Li Changjun concluded with the motto "Revere technology, revere nature, revere the human heart," encouraging the participants to explore AI applications while not forgetting to examine its profound impact on society and humanity, and to meet the challenges and opportunities of the intelligent era with a more comprehensive and responsible attitude.

Closing Ceremony and Group Presentations

Learning through practice, each group showcased their talents. At the closing ceremony, each group took turns to present their research results on the topics of "Why is water more expensive than diamonds" and "The Journey to the West: Layoffs," with enthusiasm and deep thinking. From economic principles to team management strategies, each group demonstrated their outstanding style and unlimited potential with unique insights and wonderful arguments. The sixth group won the unanimous praise of the judges and the audience with their deep understanding of "cost reduction and efficiency increase" and the accurate analysis of team members, and was awarded the first place in the closing presentation.

At the end of the research camp, Li Hao, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Management at Wuhan University, gave a summary speech, affirming the excellent performance of the participants and giving them his earnest wishes. He emphasized that the college entrance examination is a threshold to dreams, and embracing the challenges of university is a new chapter of growth. He encouraged the students to bravely cross the threshold of the college entrance examination and meet the challenges of university life with firm conviction and unremitting efforts.
