Date:2025-01-08

Recently, the China Scientific Literature Citation Evaluation Research Center of CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) released the pre-announcement of the '2024 CNKI Highly Cited Scholars' list. 79 scholars from our school have been selected for the '2024 CNKI Highly Cited Scholars Top 1%' list, accounting for nearly one-third (31%) of the total faculty members.

Over the past decade (2014-2023), approximately 3.35 million authors have published at least one paper that meets the criteria. From this pool, '2024 CNKI Highly Cited Scholars' were selected in two categories: PCSI TOP1% and PCSI TOP5%. The PCSI TOP1% list includes 30,000 scholars (with a baseline value of 31.016), while the PCSI TOP5% list includes 89,000 scholars (with a baseline value of 10.297). These scholars all meet the criteria of having a total PCSI higher than the baseline value and having published no fewer than five eligible papers, including at least one high-impact paper.

It is reported that 138 scholars from the School were included in the '2024 CNKI Highly Cited Scholars' list. Among them, 79 scholars were selected for the '2024 CNKI Highly Cited Scholars Top 1%' list, and 59 scholars were selected for the '2024 CNKI Highly Cited Scholars Top 5%' list. These selected scholars account for nearly half of the faculty members in EMS (54%). Wuhan University has 74 economists included in the 'Top 1%' of Chinese economics scholars, ranking third nationwide among universities. The number of economics faculty members from our school in this category represents 73% of the total for the university. In management studies, 88 scholars from Wuhan University were included in the 'Top 1%' list, ranking second nationwide, with the School contributing 28.4% of the university’s management scholars.

For years, EMS has focused on developing four primary disciplines: theoretical economics, applied economics, business administration, and management science and engineering. We have optimized the structure of secondary disciplines and worked to cultivate new growth areas in research. By adhering to theoretical innovation within the context of China’s independent knowledge system, we have conducted strategic, forward-looking, and in-depth high-quality research, contributing to the high-quality development of the Chinese economy. The inclusion of 79 scholars in the '2024 CNKI Highly Cited Scholars Top 1%' list is not only a recognition of the individual academic achievements of our scholars but also an affirmation of the School’s comprehensive academic strength. Moving forward, our school will continue to uphold the development strategy of 'balancing economics and management disciplines, integrating talent cultivation and scientific research, combining theoretical innovation with social service, and aligning Chinese issues with an international perspective.' We aim to further energize and invigorate the development of our disciplines and academic research.
