Good News | 3 alumni of our Collage were selected as "11th Outstanding Alumni of Wuhan University"

On the morning of November 29, on the occasion of the 131st anniversary of Wuhan University, the 11th Outstanding Alumni Commendation Conference of Wuhan University was held in Yingding Old Library. 3 alumni of our college were successfully selected and attended the commendation event. They are: Chen Zuotao, 1992 graduates, Tianhao Energy Co., LTD., Juchen Semiconductor Co., LTD. Chairman; Hua Sheng, 2000 graduate, senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences, Southeast University, Dean of National Institute of Development and Policy; Tang Min, 1982 graduate, Youcheng entrepreneurs Poverty Alleviation Foundation Executive Vice president.

After the school commendation activity, the unveiling ceremony of the "11th Outstanding Alumni of Wuhan University" alumni wall of the School of Economics and Management was held in the corridor on the second floor of the school. All the members and guests who attended the meeting of the College Advisory Committee, all the members of the party and government team of the college and representatives of teachers and students attended the unveiling ceremony of the alumni wall. The unveiling ceremony was presided over by President Nie Jun.

Before the unveiling ceremony began, Nie Jun gave a brief introduction to the deeds of the three alumni (details at the end of this article).

In his speech, Huang Shan, the alumni representative, expressed warm congratulations on the election of Chen Zuotao, Watson and Tang Min. He believed that the completion of the alumni wall is the high value of the school for alumni. As alumni, we must stick to our original heart, take our predecessors as an example, continue to forge ahead, and strive to add glory to our Alma mater.

Professor Tan Liwen, the faculty representative, said in his speech that the honorable election of the three alumni is not only an example for teachers and students, but also an honor for the college. As a member of the faculty of the College, he feels very proud and wishes all the alumni to continue to achieve new breakthroughs on a new starting point.

In the warm applause, the newly elected three distinguished alumni jointly unveiled the alumni wall. As the red curtain was slowly opened, the beautifully framed photos of the three "11th Outstanding Alumni of Wuhan University" were revealed, and the achievements of the alumni not only highlighted the achievements of the college, but also continued to inspire future students and cultivate more outstanding talents. Subsequently, the three newly elected distinguished alumni delivered speeches respectively.

Watson alumni first expressed their excitement at being named outstanding alumni and thanked the school for the honor. He expressed the hope that in the future, more alumni exchange and learn from each other, continue to keep close contact, forge ahead, and jointly promote the overall improvement of the school's level.

Tang Min alumni also expressed their gratitude for the honor given by the school with excitement, and reviewed their student days and teaching experiences in the school. He said that as an alumnus, he has always been concerned about the development of the college's various undertakings and is proud of it, and hopes to continue to make efforts to contribute to the development of the college in the future.

Chen Zuotao is very grateful for the recognition of the school, the training of the school and the teaching of the teachers, and believes that it is the learning of professional knowledge and the training of practical skills during the school, which has laid a solid foundation for his own business. "The most important step in my own history is choosing Wuhan University," he said. He said that he will continue to fulfill his mission and contribute to the development of the college in the future.

School of Economics and Management "the 11th outstanding alumni of Wuhan University" personnel profile

Chen Zuotao, male, born in 1970, studied at the School of Management, Wuhan University from 1988 to 1992. He is currently the chairman of Tianhao Energy Co., LTD., and Chairman of Juchen Semiconductor Co., LTD. Chen Zuotao focuses on investment in strategic emerging industries such as new energy, new materials, chip semiconductors, and quantum technology. He has rich experience in investment and enterprise management, and has made outstanding contributions to saving resources, improving living environment and promoting the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements in China.


Watson, male, born in 1953, studied at the School of Economics and Management of Wuhan University for his Ph. D. from 1997 to 2000. He is currently vice President of the China Society of Economic Restructuring, Dean of the National Institute of Development and Policy, Southeast University, honorary Dean of the School of Economics and Management, senior professor of Humanities and Social Sciences, professor of the School of Economics and Management, Wuhan University, Director of the Academic Committee of Dong Furen Institute of Economic and Social Development. Huasheng alumni is one of the main proposers and promoters of three important changes affecting the process of economic reform in China (price dual track system, state-owned assets system, and non-tradable shares reform). He has won the Sun Yefang Economics Award, the first prize of outstanding papers of the Central State Organs, and the China Economic Theory Innovation Award in 2011, and is known as one of the most influential economists in China's securities market.


Tang Min, male, born in 1953, studied at the Department of Mathematics, Wuhan University from 1978 to 1982, and served as a teaching assistant at the Department of Economics and Management, Wuhan University from 1982 to 1984. He is currently the Vice chairman of the China Youcheng Entrepreneurs Rural Development Foundation, and served as the economist of the Economic Development Research Center of the Asian Development Bank and the Chief economist of the Asian Development Bank's Representative Office in China. He also served as counselor of The State Council from April 2011 to April 2024. Tang Min alumni have long been engaged in economic policy and social development research, providing strong support for the country's macroeconomic regulation and control and social development. In 1998, together with his alumnus Zuo Xiaolei, he actively advocated and promoted the enrollment expansion policy of Chinese universities. In recent years, efforts have been made to use new quality productivity to empower new industries and traditional industries, as well as the development of rural education and rural industries.
