International students from the Economics and Management School participated in the "Silk Road E-commerce Track for International Students in China" of the National College Students' Digital Trade Comprehensive Skills Competition. They stood out in the regional competition and won the opportunity to attend the 2024 Global Digital Trade Expo. They will participate in the National Finals and tell their stories of witnessing China's digital trade and e-commerce along the Silk Road.
The National College Students' Digital Trade Comprehensive Skills Competition, themed "Digital Trade, Business Globally," aims to enhance the comprehensive qualities and professional skills in digital trade among college students. Organized by the China Digital Trade Research Institute of Zhejiang University and hosted by the Organizing Committee of the National College Students' Digital Trade Comprehensive Skills Competition, the competition has been successfully held for two editions. Since its launch in February 2024, the third edition of the competition has attracted extensive attention from all sectors of society and active responses from universities across the country, with more than 20,000 teachers and students from 527 universities in 29 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions participating.
This year's competition has added the "、Silk Road E-commerce Track for International Students in China," where international students in China represent themselves. They tell a story of Silk Road e-commerce based on their real experiences or projects they have participated in, highlighting the theme of digital trade while integrating historical elements of the Silk Road, connecting digital trade with the ancient commercial network. After fierce competition, a total of 71 teams have been selected for the National Finals. Only 10 teams from the Central China region have the opportunity to advance, and the "the New Era" team from Wuhan University has successfully qualified for the National Finals.

The "the New Era" team from Wuhan University is led by WILLIAM LEE BOON ONN (majoring in Communication, class 2020), and joined by LEE WEN (majoring in Psychology, class 2021), SANDRA JANE TEY SIN YEE (majoring in Radio and Television Science, class 2021), TUAK ZHONG EE (majoring in International Economics and Trade, class 2022) and KARAVAPONG JIRATCHAYA (majoring in Economics, class 2022). Supervised by Associate Professor Lin GUO from the Economics and Management School and Xiao Qing FAN from the International Education School, five international students from Wuhan University, including two students from the International Class of the Economics and Management School, shared their experiences of digital new media entrepreneurship during their studies in China, telling a story of digital trade between China and ASEAN countries. Through the analysis of real cases, they have cultivated professional skills in digital trade, innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities, and team spirit.

Adapting to the new trends and demands of the digitalization of international trade and accelerating the construction of a strong trade nation, the cultivation of digital talent is an urgent task. "Promoting teaching and learning through competition" is a new model that Wuhan University is exploring for the cultivation of digital talent. The National College Students' Digital Trade Comprehensive Skills Competition has become an international stage for college students to compete on the same platform, creating conditions for Wuhan University to cultivate outstanding global digital trade talents.
