Students of Our School Won Second Prize of “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Curricular Academic Science and Technology Work Competition

On October 17th, the final of the thirteenth “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Curricular Academic Science and Technology Work Competition co-hosted by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the All-China Student Federation and the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province drew to an end in Suzhou. The “Efficiency Realization of High-speed Rail Freight Transportation and Strategic Choice of Transportation Route” project team, which was directed by Professor Wang Xianjia, and Professor Hai Feng from our school and consisted of undergraduate Du Shuyang, Qi Wenhui and the like from our school, was among over 400 school teams to win the national second prize, which is the best performance achieved by our school’s students in nearly a decade.

This competition took the theme of “Challenging Innovation and Realizing Chinese Dream Together”. As it was launched in March, school-level competitions had been carried out among near 2 thousands of universities over the whole nation; and near 20 thousands of works had been signed up in the official website. Finally, 1135 works from 440 universities reached the final after the province-level competitions and national review; and 59 works from 14 universities in Hong Kong and Macao regions joined the final along with above-mentioned works. After fierce competitions, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tsinghua University jointly won this “Challenge Cup” with a total of 480 grades. By virtue of novel conception and rigorous theory, the “Efficiency Realization of High-speed Rail Freight Transportation and Strategic Choice of Transportation Route” project team from our school gained the consistent affirmation of the competition committee, and won the second prize.

It’s reported that the “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Curricular Academic Science and Technology Work Competition was found in 1989, and held biennially, and had been being developed into the biggest and most influential undergraduate science and technology innovation competition all over the nation up to now.

The fourteenth “Challenge Cup” competition in 2015 will be hosted by Guangdong University of Technology and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology collectively, and we are looking forward to new good performances of our school’s students.
