The ceremony was attended to by alumnus Wen Wuwei, chairman of the board of Shenzhen EMKT Financial Holdings Group, Zhou Xingyu, Chief Financial Officer, alumnus Jian Hong, president & CEO of Zhenglong (Beijing) Insurance Agency Co., Ltd, Li Fei, vice president of Wuhan University, Fang Guowei, president of Shenzhen Research Institute of Wuhan University, Teng Jiaguo, director of Education Development Fund Office of Wuhan University, Xu Yeqin, secretary of Party Committee of our school, Wang Tao, vice dean of our school, Peng Hongfeng, director of Department of Finance, and student representatives. The ceremony was overseen by Vice Dean Wang Tao.

Secretary Xu Yeqin provided a concise introduction to Mr. Wen Wuwei. Hailing from Xishui, Hubei, he studied at our school from 1982 to 1989, obtaining Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in economics. After graduation, he worked in the regulation of the stock market, becoming one of the earliest pioneers and innovators of China’s stock trading industry, and played a leader’s role in many activities, including establishment of companies, formulation of stock trading rules, as well as establishment of the client manager system, importing of high-level talents, founding of research institutes, creation of examination and stimulation systems, innovative design of investment products, and so on. In 1997, he founded Shenzhen EMKT Asset Management Co., Ltd, and later started its local branches in Shenzhen, Changsha, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Shanghai, Chongqing and Beijing. At present, the EMKT Group boasts a credit volume of 1 billion Yuan, with 5 billion Yuan in funds under its management, and 500 million Yuan in shared investments.

In the ceremony, Vice President Li Fei presented Mr. Wen Weiwu with a letter of appointment for adjunct professor, and student representatives adorned him with Wuhan University’s badge. Mr. Li Fei then gave an enthusiastic speech expressing our welcome to join our university, and our wishes for him to strengthen his collaboration with our university, looking forward to his contribution to our school’s education and research, so that EMKT may help us to foster more talents for our society.

Mr. Wen Weiwu sincerely thanked the honor bestowed by Wuhan University, the place where he studied. He said that the university and the school’s help and education is indispensable from his achievements today, and he will continue to support our university and school’s research. He will provide internships for our students to help with their employment. A research center and a capital forum will be established to help spread fruits of our research, and bring the name of Wuhan University to all of China.

It is also known that in the school governor inauguration ceremony held by our university, the alumni Mr. Yan Zhi and Wen Weiwu have been employed as school governors, with their letters of appointment provided by President Li Xiaohong. During the ceremony, Mr. Wen Weiwu donated RMB 5.5 million Yuan to our school, of which 5 million Yuan would be primarily used by School of Economics and Management for education, student grants, and support for student entrepreneurship.
