Professor Chen Jiyong Elected Vice President of Chinese Association of Asia-Pacific Studies

More than 100 representatives from schools and research institutes, as well as representatives for publishers of social science literature and several renowned academic journals such asContemporary Asia-PacificStudies,Asia-Pacific Economic ReviewandSoutheast Asian Studies, attended the conference. During the conference, the end-term election of the Association leadership was completed, and a new leadership was selected. Professor Chen Jiyong of our school was elected as vice president of the Association, and Associate Professor Yu Zhen was elected as the deputy secretary general.The main theme of this conference was to ask new questions and propose new strategies with regard to the regional climate and changes in relation between major countries in the new era, in light of China’s experience in opening up and reform.

Chinese Association of Asia-Pacific Studies is a multi-discipline academic organization formed by Chinese researchers, educators and workers dedicated to the research of politics, economics, society and culture in the Asia-Pacific region. The Association follows the guidance of Marxism, undertakes research projects assigned by the central government, promotes academic exchanges between China and international community, and strengthens China’s cooperation with academic organizations in the Asia-Pacific region and other international academic organizations concerned with the Asia-Pacific region, in service of the furthering of China’s economic reform and opening up, and construction of socialist modernization.
