During August 21 to August 23, 2015, Symposium on Transition Economy and Innovation Drive in the New Normal & Third Summit Forum for Chinese Characteristics Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration were held at Kunming University of Science and Technology. This forum was held by the Journal of Science and Technology Progress and Policy, sponsored by Research Center for China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration of Wuhan University and Faculty of Management and Economics of Kunming University of Science and Technology, and co-sponsored by School of Management of Wuhan University of Technology. Expert on innovation drive strategy of Ministry of Science and Technology, vice president of China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Association, and Chief Expert of Research Center for China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration of Wuhan University professor Li Jian, head of the center professor Li Yanping, vice dean of School of Management of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Liu Yulin, and dean of Faculty of Management and Economics of Kunming University of Science and Technology professor Qin Kaida were invited to the forum.

Over 150 experts, researchers and representatives of nationwide famous universities, research institutes, government departments and enterprises attended the forum. They had in-depth discussion and exchange focused on the development strategy, development path, development pattern, policy guarantee, platform building, market evaluation, and financial support of transition economy and innovation drive in the new normal as well as industry-university-research institute collaboration Chief Expert of Research Center for China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration of Wuhan University professor Li Jian presented his expert report titled New Development of Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration in China at the forum. Besides, the center invited president and party secretary of the First Construction Engineering Limited Company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Chen Weiguo, who presented a special report titled The Age of Industry Change: Industry-University-Research Institute Combination Is the Way out for Transition, and vice president and vice party secretary of Shenglong Electric Group Xie Qinglun, who presented a special report titled Thoughts on Innovated-driven Development Direction of Manufacture Industry in the New Normal.

Since 2012, the center has held three summit forums on industry-university-research institute collaboration with Chinese characteristics in succession. The forums have great significance in boosting the innovation drive strategy in China, realizing innovation in government-industry-university-research institute-enterprise collaboration, overcoming difficulties in industry-university-research institute collaboration, strengthening core competitive power of China, and accelerating in making China an innovative country. In addition, the book Study of Industry-University-Research Institute-Enterprise Combination with Chinese Characteristics ("Research of Mode, Mechanism and Policy on Industry-University-Research Institute-Enterprise Combination with Chinese Characteristics" Project (10JZDW003), a major entrusted project on philosophy and social science of Ministry of Education) was recently published by Science Press and was initially issued on the forum. The book is the collection of research achievements and wisdom of the faculty of the center. It was written jointly by the expert advisor professor Li Jian, project group leader professor Li Yanping, and project group member Wu Shaotang, Chen Jian'an, Tao Houyong, Huang Mingdong, Gong Hong and Wen Xingqi.(Edited by Bettina)
