A graduation experience sharing seminar was held for the Bachelor Program of International Economics and Trade

On 18 Jun 2017, the Graduation Ceremony of the Class of 2017 took place at the Economics and Management School. At the ceremony, 17 international students from the Bachelor Program of International Economics and Trade (BIET) received their Degree. On this occasion, the International Education Office of EMS organized an experience sharing seminar for all the students in BIET Program. The seminar was hosted by Prof Guo Lin, director of International Education Office, and 3 guaduate representatives from the BIET Program, Kinnah Gideon from Ghana, Makyutti Purinut from Thailand and Adan Abdullahi Ismail from Kenya were invited to share their experiences during their study at the University.

In the seminar, Kinnah Gideon from Ghana first shared his experience during his internship in an investment company in China. He combined his own internship experience to tell what the purpose of internship is and how to find a good one. He explained in detail the possible problems in the whole process of practice from three aspects: preparation, goals and performance. At the last, he told us “Winners never quit, and quitters never win”.

Makyutti Purinut, an outstanding graduate from Thailand, gave a presentation titled "On the Financial Investment". He narrated the investment story of Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch and George Soros, and recommended their investment philosophy. He also very enthusiastically recommended some films about financial investment, such as “Inside Job”, “Overdose--The Next Financial Crisis”, “Margin Call”. Finally, he said “the losing is the success, with the right mindset”.

Adan Abdullahi Ismail from Kenya reviewed his 4 years living in Wuhan University. He appreciated very much his professors for their time and dedication to his success of today and to light his future, also his classmates for their friendship and the happy time they took together for the last 4 years. At the last, he said “my life may not be going the way I planned, but I know it’s going exactly the way god planned it.”

After that, all graduates of the BIET Program went on stage one by one, to share their feelings about graduation and leave messages to the young classmates.

It is learned that 8 graduates from the BIET Program will continue their study (1 in HK, 4 stay in China, 2 in the UK and 1 in Canada), and the rest of 9 accepted job offers, among them 2 will work in China. The Bachelor of International Economics and Trade is a 4-year full-time degree Program. The program started at 2011 and taught in english for internationalstudents. Up to now, more than 40 international students have been awarded bachelor degree in International Economics and Trade. (Source: International Education Office/ Edited by Bettina)
