In this autumn during the National Day festival, more than 50 alumni of Class 83 of Economics and Management School came from all corners of the whole nation for a reunion in Luojia Hill 30 years after their entrance in Wuhan University. Faculty and alumni of the department recalled the old days and wonderful memories.

In the morning of October 4, alumni of Class 83 of Economics and Management School attended the “30 Anniversary of Class 83 of Economics and Management School” in the first meeting room of Administrative Building of Wuhan University. Xie Hongxing, Vice President of the university, Peng Yuwen, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the General Alumni Committee, Xu Yeqin, secretary of party committee of the school, Pan Min and Wang Tao, Vice Presidents of the school, Hu Chunfang, former secretary of party committee of the school, Peng Yuanjie, former vice secretary of party committee of the school, Gan Biqun, a teacher representative, Zheng Gongchao, a former counselor of Class 83, and other persons attended the meeting. Zhang Dongxiang, an alumnus of Class 83 and a professor of the school, held the symposium.

Dr. Liu Tao, an alumnus of Class 83 and secretary of party committee of Hongshan District of Wuhan gave a report about the life and work of the alumni of Class 83. Prof. Xie Hongxing, Vice President of Wuhan University, extended warm welcome to the alumni of Class 83. He explained the great significance of 120th anniversary of the university, and expressed thanks to the alumni for their support for development of the university. Xu Yeqin, secretary of party committee of the school, expressed his delight in taking part in alumni reunion of Class 83, and extended warm welcome to the alumni delegation on behalf of Xie Danyang, president of the school. Prof. Xu gave a briefing of the development and achievements of the school and expressed good wishes to the alumni. Liu Daoyu, former president of the university, and Zheng Qinliao, former Director of the Economics and Management Department, wrote dedication words to the alumni reunion and expressed best wishes to them.

Prof. Tan Liwen gave a keynote speech titled “Milestones of Management Science and Economic Management Development”. After the report, the attendees had a free discussion. The professors have been giving care and support to the alumni as parents do to their children years after their graduation. The faculty wished good health, happy family life and successful career to every alumnus.

To honor the 120th anniversary of the university, Xiao Yanxun, Director of Macroscopic Research Division of the Research Office of the State Council, donated 50,000Yuan to the university on behalf of alumni of Class 83. This donation will be dedicated to plantation of alumni woods. A female student of Class 83 presented bouquet to former faculty of the school and expressed thanks to them. Dr. Yuan Guangping, Vice Mayor of Haikou City, delivered a thanks-giving speech. The meeting was concluded in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
