Professor Hua Zheng is in his eighth decade now. He used to be a Professor of Economic Law in the college of Economics and Management, Wuhan University. After retiring in 1994, he has been always concerned about national affairs, and wrote a lot of letters to government agencies to state his suggestion. With strong sense of responsibility and mission, he started to make contributions to the society in a new way.

In 1999, Professor Hua Zheng wrote a letter to Rongji Zhu, the Prime Minister then, putting forward two suggestions about how to put an end to shoddy constructions. First, carve the names of the companies and the persons in charge of building design, construction and supervision in a prominent location, let them share weal or woe with their works. Second, let the construction unit draw expense in advance according to a certain proportion of the construction cost, used as fund for maintenance and compensation, in case the construction unit run away after completing a project and no one is responsible of it. In March that year, an official of the State Infrastructure Commission called Professor Hua Zheng, and told him that, these suggestions would be taken into account when relevant regulations were made.

In 2011, Professor Hua Zheng sent this article to Chengfa Ruan, Wuhan Municipal Party Committee Secretary. In October 2014,an official of Wuhan Urban and Rural Construction Committee replied him that, they agreed with all his proposal. Professor Hua Zheng said:“Everyone is responsible for his country. My passion stems from a sense of responsibility for the society and the country.”

In Professor Hua Zheng’s opinion, patriotism education is an integral part of the teenager development. He used to write a letter to the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, called for scholars from Taiwan and Mainland China to discard prejudice, face up to history, jointly write a history of Anti-Japanese War."There are some Anti-Japanese war veterans alive now, it is a good chance to sort and collect data by the way of oral history." Professor Hua Zheng knows that, it’s highly unlikely that his proposals to be adopted, "but it’s better that there are proposals than nothing. As long as there is a ray of hope, I’ll do something with patriotism. "

In 2005, Professor Li Shouyong of College of Economics and Management first advocate to set up a "national patriotic day", suggesting to make July 7th each year an anniversary, in order to let teenagers remember this special day, set up the suffering consciousness and patriotic feelings since the childhood. Professor Hua Zheng deeply agreed with this suggestion. Then he and Professor Shouyong Li successively mailed documents to the central and state legislatures. In June the next year, the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council replied that the proposal had positive significance to carry forward the spirit of civil defense and strengthen patriotism education, relevant department will study further on it.

In addition to giving advice, Professor Hua Zheng also actively created conditions for others. In March 2014, he found unintentionally that three second year students of Wuhan Experimental Foreign Languages School wrote an articleInvestigation on Wuhan Metro, and the article was illustrated and gave pertinent suggestions. He sent the article to Chengfa Ruan accompanied by a letter, and Chengfa Ruan replied immediately, and thanked the three students and Professor Hua Zheng.

"Sunglow is still shining on the trees although it is late in the afternoon." Professor Hua Zheng does not admit that he is old. He likes to read books and newspapers, to know information about the nation and the world. When he has some ideas, he writes them down, and publishes the article in his blog called "The Fisherman’s Voice and Recommendations". "I also want to keep pace with the times, and to participate in the life of society. "He is very satisfied with his own state.

"My wish is to continue to work hard, read more and think more, concern about the affairs of the state and the school, perform my duty as a party member." said Professor Hua Zheng confirmedly.
