01 Professor WANG Jinzhao

Professor Wang views on epidemic prevention and control were cited in the article "Relying on Scientific and Technological Forces to Win the War Against Epidemic Prevention and Control" published on 6th March by the China Social Science Network. The original text quoted as follow: "Professor Wang Jinzhao, Economics and Management School of Wuhan University, said that the outbreak of epidemic is a major challenge on viral etiology, medicine, hygiene, hospital system, medical production and supply, social mobilization and organization. Under the strong leadership of the Party, Chinese science and technology front line react promptly, correctly, and effectively."

02 Professor WEN Xingqi

Professor Wen published the article "The Impact of the COVID-19 on the Innovation Environment and Countermeasures" in the "People's Forum". Wen pointed out that due to the occurrence and spread of the COVID-19, domestic innovation environment has been hit unprecedentedly. Innovative infrastructure, innovation system and innovation atmosphere have been negatively affected in a comprehensive and in-depth manner, which in turn affects the implementation of our comprehensive innovation strategy. As President Xi pointed out, this is a crisis also a big challenge. Therefore, on the basis of scientific deployment and resolute prevention and control of the epidemic, we should objectively and comprehensively identify the impact on the innovation environment, evaluate the impact on innovation performance, adopt comprehensive and targeted measures to optimize the innovation environment. It is of urgent and far-reaching significance to restore the operation of the innovation system, improve the level of innovation and performance, and achieve the strategic goal driven by comprehensive innovation.

03 Professor XIAO Guangen

Associate Professor Xiao Guangen’s views on epidemic prevention and control were quoted in the article "Relying on Scientific and Technological Forces to Win the War Against Epidemic Prevention and Control" published on 6th March by the China Social Science Network. The original text quoted as follows: "Xiao Guangen, director of the Economic Public Sentiment Research Center of Wuhan University, pointed out that the reason why we made progression in prevention and control of the COVID-19 is that our science and technology front line react proactively."

04 Professor YE Chusheng

Professor Ye Chusheng published an article in Guangming Daily, pointed out that the history of economic development since the founding of the People's Republic of China shows us that the Chinese economy has strong development resilience. In the long run, the short-term economic fluctuations caused by the epidemic will gradually weaken, economy will eventually return to the general trend of economic development. This fluctuation cannot change the basic trend of stable and long-term economic growth in China. As a member of the Wuhan Municipal People’s Government Decision Advisory Committee, Professor Ye submitted three consultation reports on the prevention and control of the epidemic to the Wuhan Municipal Government and other relevant state departments. Professor Ye’s report "Research on the Impact of the COVID-19 on China's Economy" was admitted as the first batch of projects approved for the "Fighting COVID-19" Humanities and Social Sciences Emergency Research Project of Wuhan University.

05 Professor YU Zhen

Professor Yu Zhen pointed out that the development process of public health emergencies in big cities can be divided into an initial period, a concentrated outbreak period, and a mitigation period. At each stage, the impact of emergencies on the economy is not the same, making the weak links of economic security precautions different in each stage, therefore the emergencies need to be dealt with from multiple aspects. Regarding the problem of community group purchasing, in an interview with Wuhan Radio and Television Station and Hubei Economic TV channel, Professor Yu suggested that group purchasing should be carried out at different levels, the government guarantees basic living necessity, while personalized needs should be regulated by the market. In an interview with "Xinhua Finance", on the issue of "'double drop' of LPR", Professor Yu said that the time when the central bank's policy will be adjusted and the extent of the adjustment will depend on market needs. This interest rate cut is expected but also significant meaningful, It is conducive to increasing monetary and credit support for epidemic prevention and control, exerting the counter-cyclical adjustment effect of monetary policy, and supporting the long-term development trend of China's economy. Professor Yu Zhen's "Research on Weakness in Economic Prevention against the COVID-19 and Countermeasures " was admitted as the first batch of projects approved for the "Fighting COVID-19" Humanities and Social Sciences Emergency Research Project of Wuhan University.

05 Professor ZOU Wei

Professor Zou Wei submitted the "Recommendations on Requisitioning Military Games Arena Facilities for Centralized Quarantine of Suspected Patients" to Hubei Province and Wuhan City on the evening of 1st February, this report was later adopted on the morning of 2nd February. In the afternoon of 2nd February, The Municipal Prevention and Control Headquarters issued an announcement to centrally quarantine the "four types of personnel", and quickly started the construction of the Fangcang (Shelter hospital). Professor Zou Wei received greeting call from the General Office of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee before the announcement. On 4th and 10th February, "People's Political Consultative Conference Paper" interviewed Professor Zou, Zou put forward scientific suggestions on managing and allocating medical aid materials and donations in the report "Recommendations on Joint Various Departments to Strengthen the Management of Donated Materials and Funds for the Epidemic", Zou pointed out that there are currently issues such as lack of publicity, inefficient distribution, insufficient capacity, nontransparent information, and insufficient customs clearance. She recommended to assign one deputy governor in charge of preparing the coordination group leader and other important suggestions. Zou put forward ten suggestions on community management, necessity supply, public sentiment guidance, resumption of work and school in the "Outstanding Problems in the Current Wuhan Epidemic and Suggestions". Professor Zou’s "Analysis of the Impact of the COVID-19 on Economic and Social Development in Hubei" was admitted as the first batch of projects approved for the "Fighting COVID-19" Humanities and Social Sciences Emergency Research Project of Wuhan University.( Editor: Guo Lijing,Luo Yu)
