Professor Huang Minxue's Academic Anti-Epidemic Journey

Huang Minxue,Professor of Economics and Management School of Wuhan University,PhD supervisor,Humanities and Social Sciences Jieqing and Luojia Distinguished Professor,Head of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management,Deputy dean of the Wuhan University Institute of Big Data,Director of the China Marketing Engineering and Innovation Research Center,professional editor-in-chief of the Journal of Marketing Science,and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Colleges and Universities Marketing Research Association.

The COVID-19 epidemic is so fierce and far-reaching that universities across the country haven’t resume classes yet.In the eye of the epidemic storm,all teachers and students of Wuhan University actively carry out anti-epidemic activities.Among them,Professor Huang Minxue of Wuhan University's Economics and Management School made use of his academic expertise and embarked on an academic anti-epidemic journey.

Frontline research to help companies fight disease

The COVID-19 epidemic has dealt a major blow to enterprises in Hubei province.To help enterprises resume work and production in an orderly manner.First,it is necessary to understand the specific difficulties faced by different enterprises as well as their specific demands.Professor Huang Minxue led a team to conduct an online survey in February,targeting 284 enterprises in different industries in Hubei Province.The survey found that enterprises in different industries were affected by the epidemic in different degrees and sectors,and made policy suggestions to help enterprises in different industries resume work and production.The survey report was reported in full by the Public Issue of China Higher Education Marketing Society.

In the post-epidemic period,how to promote consumption has become an important initiative to boost the economy.Professor Huang Minxue led a team to strategically collaborate with the Hubei UnionPay to conduct an in-depth study on how to issue consumer coupons in a rational and efficient manner to boost consumption.Based on an in-depth analysis of the first and second phases of the Hubei UnionPay's issuance and redemption data,the team made effective suggestions on how to optimize the design and issuance of consumer coupons,including the frequency, timing and distribution methods of issuance.

Live public service broadcasting,empowering communities to fight epidemics

Invited by the Marketing Society of Chinese Colleges and Universities, Professor Huang Minxue conducted a unique live public service lecture on May 6th,2020,titled"A New Model of Community-Enabled Marketing Under the Epidemic:From Customer Transaction to User Interaction". Professor Huang Minxue pointed out in the live lecture that although the COVID-19 epidemic is a huge challenge for enterprises,there are also opportunities,and the key is that enterprises need to change their business model,interact with users in an all-round way,and dig deep into user resources.The key is that enterprises need to change their business model and interact with users in an all-round way,and tap into users' resources in depth.Many enterprises have invited Professor Huang Minxue to conduct in-depth exchanges with their enterprises to put theory into practice and promote the transformation and upgrading of enterprises.

Remote webinar to guide students in fighting the epidemic

Professor Huang Minxue has been teaching Network Marketing to undergraduate students.Due to the new crown epidemic,this semester's "network marketing"class has really become"network marketing"class. Professor Huang Minxue not only flexibly adjusted the teaching method according to the requirements of online teaching,but also combined with the impact of the epidemic to flexibly adjust the teaching content; more importantly,in the teaching process,actively guide students to think about the impact of the epidemic on enterprises,and how enterprises deal with the impact of the environment.Under the inspiration and guidance of Professor Huang Minxue,the students thought deeply about the development strategies and business models of real enterprises,especially network enterprises, and formed a series of academic articles,which were reported in depth by the undergraduate public number of the School of Economics and Management and praised by WU alumni,and some alumni entrepreneurs also invited relevant students to internship and employment in their companies.

Contribute ideas to help Hubei revitalization

On the morning of May 4th,2020, Hubei Provincial Party Committee Reform Office,Hubei Province Economic System Reform Special Group Office and Wuhan University School of Economics and Management jointly held the first phase of "Revitalizing Hubei Economy Forum" online discussion.Professor Huang Minxue delivered a speech entitled "Opportunity in Crisis:Marketing Breakthroughs and Upgrades in the Mobile Era" as a special guest.Professor Huang Minxue first pointed out that the epidemic will drive the consumption pattern upgrade,which enterprises should survive in the short term,survive in the medium term and develop in the long term,and put forward the government's precise policy suggestions:consumption guarantee,enterprise empowerment and government transformation.

Comprehensive coordination to promote cloud-based academic events

The 4th International Symposium on Marketing Science and Innovation and JBR Album Conference was originally scheduled to be held at Wuhan University in March 2020,hosted by the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management,School of Economics and Management,Wuhan University.The epidemic struck when the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management was making all the preliminary preparations.As Wuhan was the city most affected by the epidemic,Professor Huang Minxue immediately coordinated and revised the conference to be co-hosted by Wuhan University and Hunan University,with Hunan University as the host;Wuhan University was responsible for contacting experts and scheduling the conference,while Hunan University was in charge of the conference affairs.However,with the growing trend of the epidemic in the international arena,it was extremely inconvenient for foreign experts to attend the conference in China,and domestic participants had to gather less.Considering the development of the epidemic,Prof.Huang Minxue began to coordinate all the organizers and participants of the conference,and finally decided that the academic event will be held in July through the Internet,and all participants will be exempted from the conference service fee.

Twelve leading scholars from China and abroad,including Professor Rober Palmatier of the University of Washington,Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Marketing,and Professor Anders K. K. Huang of the Norwegian Business School,will deliver keynote speeches at the invitation of Professor Huang Minxue.Professor Gustafsson;Associate Editor,Journal of International Business Studies,and Professor JiaTao Li,Hong Kong University of Science and Technology;Senior Editor,Marketing Science, and Professor Yuxin Chen,New York University,Shanghai;Associate Editor,Journal of the Academy of Sciences,and Professor,New York University,Shanghai;and Professor,Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.Visiting Editor-in-Chief of Marketing Science,Professor Er Fang of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign;Editor-in-Chief of Journal of World Business,Professor Ajai Gaur of Rutgers University; Senior Editor of Asia Pacific Journal of Management,Professor Cheng Chow of the University of Hong Kong.He is also a professor at the University of Reading,co-editor of the International Journal of Research in Marketing,Professor Hong Weiping of Fudan University,senior editor of Management and Organization Review and Professor Liu Yipeng of the University of Reading.
